Judging at the Sudbury Regional Science Fair
Judging is a very rewarding experience and a great way to connect with young, enthusiastic youth.
Our judges are charged with the responsibility of awarding over $50,000 in prize money, selecting projects and students to advance to the Canada Wide Science Fair, and encouraging all participants to continue thinking creatively and scientifically about issues of today and the future.
New and Returning Judges
Each year, we are very grateful to have a majority of our judges return to judge again. In addition, we are always looking for new judges to fill the spots of those who cannot return.
If you would like to become a judge, or are a returning judge and have not been contacted yet, please email Ms. Taylor Shantz at: judging@srsf.ca
What to Expect as a Judge at the Sudbury Regional Science Fair
Judges work in pairs or on their own and are given specific projects to judge based on their preferences established through the online registration process. You will be selecting winning projects based on established criteria and may be required to consult with other judges to select the best project(s) for a particular award or division.
This year, as our regional science fair adopts a hybrid virtual and in-person format, judges will have the opportunity to view the projects assigned to them ahead of the fair day by viewing student submissions of their projects to the ProjectBoard Platform online in addition to spending time in-person with students, discussing their projects and viewing their exhibit on the fair's exhibition day.
We hope that you will join us in this exciting endeavour and lend your expertise to our regional fair!
